Purpose: Provide stable, long term habitat for natural coral settlement, coral translocation, fragment out planting, and substrate stabilization in restoration and ecological engineering projects.
Users: Restoration practitioners, government agencies, NGOs, coastal engineers, contractors.
Scale: 50 cm in diameter and 25 cm in height (around 50 lbs); larger engineered units available upon request.
Material: Marine grade concrete or approved composite mixes.
Distinction: Large format modules designed for long term habitat creation and stabilization; distinct from small research modules.
Overview: Designed to attract coral settlement and securely host translocated corals and fragments, our restoration modules support a wide range of applications, including stand alone habitat units, attachments to engineered structures, and integration into benthic stabilization mattresses for erosion mitigation. Their internal architecture enhances habitat complexity, improves early coral survival, and stabilizes loose and mobile substrates in high energy environments. Modules are available in multiple designs and sizes to match your site conditions and restoration goals. Our smallest modules (50 cm diameter; ~50 lbs) are optimized for diver deployment and monitoring with our 3D Bluelight Rig. To reduce transportation and shipping costs, we also offer Coral Restoration Module Mold Kits for on-site fabrication.
